Im looking to upgrade my stock gears to 3.73 Gears,I know that some wagons with the 200r transmission had them, but I dont know exactly what models and or other cars that have them that will bol right in,I have the v8 with the 307 olds. Please help me out,my take off is weak, the other day I couldnt even pull on a Old Ford Explorer 🙁 ,If possible tell me all the cars that will have them and how to tell by looking because I will be going to the junkyard and need to know any cars that might have them incase I see a potential candidate. Thanks

I think some s-10 trucks have them. I got mine out of a Monte SS but it doesn't have a posi also some 4 door g-bodys have 3.42 gears.

Monte SSs from 85?? and up had 3.73s. The entire rear end will bolt right in. You can grab the gears out of an S-10, just make sure you have the right carrier and axle spline count.

Or worst come to worst e-gay will have them.why 3.73s?What you running?Personal experience 3.73s wouldn't make or break you pulling out a explorer.

What do you mean it wont help me out,My car is stock, but it seems like the motor winds out before it needs to with the stock set-up,im just trying wake the 307 up alittle and get more acceleration and faster 0-60 times.I wanted to add headers,a CAi and Ignition performance stuff, but the gears would probably do more for the engine than all of those things put together.what do you think?

any one know how to use the search button. this question has been asked and answered a million times on here

Monte SS's & 442's (g-bodies of course).. the Monte SS's 7.5" 10-bolt is alot easier to find than a 442 10-bolt rear (cheaper too). however, the 8.5" rear is the "cats *ss." if you can locate one, get it!!!

S- series trucks. Look for stick shift 4 cylinder trucks for 3.73's. Pull the pinion and all the bearing races, carrier w/ring gear, spacers and races(kept to the same sides). Re-use your spider gears if its a 28-spline.

Look In the trunk, On the under side of the lid is a list of option numbers,
look for the following Numbers:
G72 2.14
GH2 2.29
GU1 2.41
GM8 2.56
GU2 2.73
GU4 3.08
GU5 3.23 Thats all of 7.5's
GT4 3.73 Is a 7.625 from a Monte SS
IF you see in addition to the above a G80 Then the rearend is a posi.
The above is true on Chev, Buick,Olds,Pontiac.
Hopes this Helps,
