This is a big help. I noticed a 20 to 30 degree drop with this in place. It would have saved years of frustration with hot temps, especially towing with the 403 in the 88 Cutlass.
 
yes these rides did come with a plastic air dam attached to the bottom of the support and it does aid in forcing air into the radiator core.i don't have any experience running a car without one but i firmly believe it's an important part of the cooling system.
I notice a difference between my Malibu that doesn’t have it and my GP that does. The clutch fan engages a lot more on the Malibu. Purely anecdotal, but it’s something I did notice. I keep meaning to put it back on the Malibu. I have it somewhere. I took it off years ago and when working on the car. At this point I should just get a new one.
