Re: Front G Body Suspension Question??? UPDATE}}} I DID IT!!

Does anybody have pics of a F41 swaybar and a standard swaybar so I can see the difference? there is a distinct difference between them but Ive never seen them off a car. Mine looks more like the red one on this post, but I cant seem to get it to fit right. Of the pics Ive seen on ebay of g-body cars for sale, the sway bars look to be upside down sometimes compared with mine. There should be a distinctive mark or diagram to show how they are mounted properly. Manuals show drawings, but they are not like my bar at all. Any help will be greatly appreciated!

Also, my front end is very stiff on one side, like it has a block in the spring to keep in from compressing properly. What would cause this? I installed new springs and one side wont go down when I push on it. Could there be a binding from new bushings installed? Maybe I tightened the bolts too tight without enough weight on the suspension? The other side moves fine. :blam:

take the load off of the front tires and loosen the LCA bolts. then set up the car at ride height with full weight on the tires and re-tighten the bolts. this should work. also make sure that there's enough of a good grease in the bushings.
only other thing i can think of is that the shock is bad, or something isn't aligned right and it's already compressed.
are you sure you aren't putting the bar in upside down? and that it's the right one?
just took a 2nd look through the thread, and especially at the first pics--are you sure the bar is in right? it's level at the ends, but the suspension is extended/LCA's down. they should be level with the car loaded and the LCAs level to the ground.

Well...I cant grease the bushings unless I spray some w-d 40 or something on them. I think maybe the shock is stuck or bent. I am reinstalling the original sway bar so its the right one, but im not sure I have it in correctly. I'll check it out...and get back to ya...Thanks!

no grease fitting on the LCA? that's not a good idea. especially if they are poly.

This are stock bushings on a stock build. Wishing I had gone with the poly, but I didnt 😢 and now I regret it. But the car was fine stock with the F41 suspension set up so Im not expecting anything other than a slightly stiffer suspension and ride.

come to think of it....I dont think Ive ever seen a LCA with grease fittings on these cars....are you sure your talking about a stock G-body suspension?

Was Bought at Autozone but you can probley find it at your local O'Riely store

SWAY BAR BUSHING : PART # (9.5161R)

SWAY BAR LINKS : PART # (9.8149R )

Note: Its best to measure your sway bar to make sure you have the right dimentions...I just took the parts with me and mesaured while I was there, and got the perfect fit....But its a real easy job to do, and not expensive, Handles good, But just remember how the sway bar comes off and where the bushing go after you take them off...I had that problem, i didnt remember how it went back on...lol

Good looking on the part #s..my regal has the 1" front sway bar but my stock end links matched up with part # 9.8124G, which are a bit shorter than the ones for the elco..me and the homie Mathmatic linked up and knocked this out this past weekend..changing these have totally changed the ride of my car. now i think i'll find some wheels this week to go on these primewell 235/60/15s..
