I always go for minimum 1" at that spot.

I just had Denny's make me a driveshaft for my Regal and even though I didn't get a measurement, I would say it is very close to 1" out. My factory driveshaft was 2" out when I installed it in my QP 9".

Scrolling through some pics I have, you can see it here it's about 1" out of the back of the T56 from the rear seal.
