Fuel gauge question

hey guys so I finally got around to fixing my fuel gauge after I think it ran out of fuel. With out the ground it goes straight to full and with the ground it goes to empty. I put about 2 gallons in which I don't think is enough to move the gauge but does it sound like its working?

You can test the sender with a multimeter using the ohms. Connect one side to the sending wire coming from the tank and ground the other side. 0 ohms is empty and 90 ohms is full
