Hey guys, carb LT1, holley Red pump (supposed to pump 7 lbs) Edelbrock 1407. I just installed a regulator with gauge thinking i may have had more than 6 psi at idle (edelbrock recommends no more than 6) Wanted to be able to monitor pressure anyway.

Right away i was a little above 6 and easily was able to dial it in. After running for a few minutes it began to drop, i kept turning the screw in, test riding around the block. The screw is now all the way in (highest pressure) and i am only getting 5 on my gauge. I have no change in performance and the car runs great. But its a little confusing, i’d like to have it up around 6 and pump should be capable of 7 … also it was higher during the first few minutes of operation … maybe there are finer details i am not aware of ????? Below is the pieces that I am using

try taking off gas cap if it;s not vented properly that can happen or there is a restriction in the fuel line or fuel pickup

I wouldn't lose a wink of sleep over it. You need 3-4 psi, not 6. The larger concern, that you can't measure with a gauge, is the volume. As long as the pump is keeping ahead of the floats you'll be fine. The way to test the volume is WOT pulls at max power - implying drag strip a 1/4 mile at a time.

EDIT - the real concern is that the pump is losing voltage as the car gets hot - that's easy to check with a meter.
