OK, we all have replaces our fuel pumps. I finally read the instruction sheet with my AC pump & never knew it says to pack the pump with grease before installing it. All I put in I never did that. So who has & what grease did you use to pack the pump?

I've never packed any of them before either. All I've ever done is put some assembly lube on the lever arm so it doesn't wear the cam lobe and bolt 'er up.

AC Delco. They recommend packing it with grease because the spring doesn't get adequate oil for lubrication. Moisture build up in the pump and causes premature pump failure. It usually takes out the spring.

Guess I should put the full trade name instead. I was wondering if I should hunt down some artillery/automotive grease since its thick & stays put if I should use any grease (works great on holding transmission pan gaskets when doing in car filter changes.) If not maybe the red stuff that Edelbrock sends with their cams (have a tube of it.)

Broke out the service manual, it said basicly slap on new pump & gasket, torque bolts, connect lines. They couldn't of dumbed it down any more than that. Guess I'll just lube it & put it on.
