Hi. Trying to hook an autometer fuel level gauge to tank. I only see a red wire,i assume is posstive keyed, and a ground. Do i need to drop the tank to see if theres other wires? Gauge have possitive, ground and sender.

There are only 2 wires on the non fuel injected tank. Ground and a pink to the gauge (to sender terminal). There is no +12 red wire to the tank.

As long as the gauge is 0-90 Ohms it will work fine.

18 Ga is the original wire size. No bigger is required for the current carried. I often use bigger especially in the back since it is in a kind of crappy place protection wise.

my wire was aluminum and pink. WTF? Instructions for my fuel gage said not to ground to instrument ground, but instead go back to the tank. I grounded to the cluster ground and it worked fine like you mentioned.

I grounded gauge to dash support and tank to the frame. Red/pink went to gauge sender screw. I have a grounding block under das i have all my grounds to for gauges. Keeps neat.
