Fun With Cars Has Not Changed Over the Years

Except the cars are actually scary fast now.

Street cars in time: 80s when 13s was quick, 90s when 12s meant something, early-2000s 11s were good, and 2010+ 10s or nothing.

The Acadian tells me these are some crazy Canucks. The comments on Youtube seem to confirm it.

I never liked street racing then or now.....that is what tracks are for and you get to race cars that is equal to yours

While I agree (age gains one perspective), I was "fortunate" enough to be exposed to real organized street racing and I must say it was a highlight of my automotive journey. Not to mention the number of spontaneous races with friends. Hell, I have even street raced against my wife on more than one occasion.

I can neither condemn, nor condone - because I am guilty of sinning.

I had some friends older brothers street race back in the 60s. Back then with less cars on the road the cops didn't bother the guys street racing as long as they picked a road that was almost never used. Your right about the 1/4 mile times back then....you can see how slow they were...

No kidding about them being stones.

One thing I have recently wanted to do was look at muscle car performance throughout history and adjust it for inflation. Reason being technology has changed, and advanced the hobby exponentially. Finding agreeable metrics (traction being the big one, and seeing what 425hp in 1970 would look like in 2017) would be paramount. It wouldn't be that hard to do to see how well a 426 Hemi Challenger would stack up against a Hellcat Challenger once those metrics were established.

Performance is relative to time and space.

But, I am just babbling here.

What's funny is I ran across this video last night and watched it while I was surfing youtube on the TV

Here is one I ran across over on the bullet. Kinda funny how a couple years changed so much in rear wheels and stuff.
