Curious if you tried park why not reverse? It may we'll have the same fail safe.

They did say you could fix stuff but emissions would still be locked down like ft Knox.

Just didn't think of it. I expect it'll wait until you stop and then go into reverse. Pretty much just like most other automatics in cars today.

As for JD, so yeah, pretty much anything related to the engine could be classified under 'emissions'. Definitely they're not just going to rollover and open up without being forced to

I've never tried it on anything newer that the electronics are more advanced, but I know this from experience because I've done it to test it..

Shift into reverse while in drive on the move, and the vehicle completely shuts off.

I've done this with a 4L60E and 4L80E.

The manual movement of the linkage moves some valves in the valve body. When that happens the fluid changes path to different areas, all this goes through the Manifold Pressure Switch first. That Switch sends signal back to the PCM of where the fluid is as well as electronic signal of what gear to command electronically with the Solenoids "A" and "B" depending on position of the linkage.

The MPS verifies the electronic command of what "gear" matches where the fluid is. You are in Drive and select Reverse, the fluid pressure changes on that path and the PCM is still registering a forward speed above a certain amount and goes nope this isn't supposed to happen, and shuts the vehicle off. This is background safety programming.

Never tried it with the VSS unplugged. Not going to either haha.
