With 8.5 million people here, actual crime is very low. The media blows it all out of proportion just to get attention. Sure, every now and then someone stuffs a chopped up body in a suitcase and leaves it at a bus stop. But the vast majority of NYers never even witness a crime. Just don't get me started on the rats and roaches.................. Take a gander at this chart. It is a list of cities by crime rate per population.
