Lot 1554, the 5,400 mile Hardtop sold for $45K, which is a new "record" for '87 GNs.

It has new Repro Eagle GT's on it so at least you can drive it (after you replace the fuel pump) and run a mid 14 second 1/4.

Dennis Collis from GMG had his MII/FOX body Mustang collection for sale. Some were head scratchers:

If an '87 GN was worth $45K, surely a '92 Mustang GT Convert Auto is worth $44K... not. By '92, GT's were being bought by late to the party wannabes and the early 5.0 guys had either broken theirs and moved on to turbo buicks or doubled down, bolted on supechargers and then broke their 5.0. The Autos couldn't get out of their own way stock. High 15 second cars. $44K is smoking crack money.

or this one... and another Auto but a '93 (only rated at 205 HP) FOR $53,900!!!!!!!! People are stupid.

I traded in my every option '86 Red/Gray leather GT convert 5 spd/3.08 gear car for an '89 LX5.0 Convert back in '89 because it was "Too Slow". My '86 was faster than both of these autos. I originally bought the '86 because I stopped daily driving my '71 Cuda340 convert and have always maintained IF a '71 'Cuda convert is worth a $100K (as a car), THEN an '86 Mustang GT is worth $150K, because as a car, it is way better. Maybe these people paying $50K for Fox body converts are former Cuda convert owners.

My dad had a '79 5.0L Cobra with 19K miles, so I was looked up Dennis Collins' '79 to see if Dad's was better or worse.

Check out these seats in Dennis' '79:

Supposedly one of 21 with these "retro" highback seats. Dad's car didn't have those seats (it had low back with headrests), but had a 4 speed, so it would be worth more:
