I found a floor shift column off a floor shift cutlass. But I felt ripped off at first cause It appears gm just grinded off the numb and put filler in. Also removed the spring and the extra bracket. Is this the only difference? If I new that I could have used that money for a new radiator.

sounds like you got a "redneck" conversion... floor shift columns shouldn't have the collar for the column shifter handle...

got a pic so we can tell?

Well that's rest assuring. I'll try to get a pic. But looking at pix of gn's and some company that sells gm column parts it looks the same.

If you want, a Jeep cherokee column 85-95ish is the same as the G body column and they came in all floor shift. F bodies had the same column too, but they arent as easy to find. Plus there is a lot of Cherokees out there.

A real GM floor shifter column wont have any sort of knob on the selector, but will rotate to run the reverse lights. The column is the same minus the colar, for the most part.

I want to know as well. How has this swap escaped the headlines?

Ok so I guess I bought more trash to throw out(or test the strength of against a sledge hammer). But the next question is the rest of the shaft the same? Maybe I can salvage the rest of the column and only buy the collar.

As far as I know it is, what you need is called a "bowl" not a collar, don't ask me why.
