I paid about $30 shipped for it, and that was because I chose one of the slightly nicer ones. Not a bad deal at all. I also own FSMs for all my Dodges too. They are invaluable.

Just guessing by your screen name, here's one for a 1987 Regal: http://cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors/1987-Bui ... 27b61659b5

It looks pretty beat up, but better than the other one listed for $70  Or hold out for a nicer one. I do plan to buy one for a later car just for the transmission info, as I'll be doing a 200-4R swap in my Regal.
WOW! Thank you so much. I'm going to order this. Yes I have the desirable 87 with the best looking grille. 😀

I picked up a column out of a late 80's small cherokee... the cloumns are the same(haven't looked at the electricals yet), but where it mounts to the firewall is different... small 2 bolt flange, where the g-body has a larger 4 bolt flange... looks like I'll be learining about steering columns this winter...

The bottom halves are different. Its not that hard to swap the upper halves out though.... but all the upper plastic is right to swap over. It wont bolt in, but if you take a GM column from anything with a console shift take off the plastic, and swap it over it isn't that hard. F bodies and Jeeps just happen to commonly come with GM floor shift columns with the right plastic.
This explains a lot about my stick shift column with a key release lever. The guy that built it said it's a G-body column but never elaborated about what other parts were used to assemble it.

sounds like you got a "redneck" conversion... floor shift columns shouldn't have the collar for the column shifter handle...

got a pic so we can tell?
Well I got the info I needed The part number that was behind the bowl was 7836008 But gms part number is 7836007. The floor shift bowl is 7836067. So if anyone hunts down a floor shift column make sure its real. The number is under the plastic shroud where the shifter would go if it was a column shift. Its a laborsome job the remove the column especially if the car appears as if its been sitting out for 10 yrs.
I know i'm beating this subject to death, But I just want to look out for others. Thanks to all the people and hours of research.

Being a jeep guy I have 3 cherokees and 2 comanche's in my yard (88-91). All of them are GM steering columns. Ignition is also GM but from there I don't know any more
