Hi
I'm new and still finding my way around the site and looking for some help.
I want to convert my power split bench seat to manual and then (later) to buckets in my 86 Elky.

Will manual tracks bolt right into the same holes after I remove the power mechanism?
Will other G-body seat tracks fit my Elky?
Will other G-body buckets fit my Elky?
Has anyone installed seats from an S10, Cavalier, Cobalt, or late model Buicks or Pontiacs?.

Thanks for your guidance

As long as your car has the split bench and not the full bench then it has the extra mounting brackets that are needed for switching to buckets as the split bench uses the same mounting points.

Should be no problem to switch to manual. Mounting points are the same.

Any G-Body Seat will work. Seats from other vehicles will work but you may need to build adapters. Someone on the site recently installed S-10 Bazer seats in his. I am using Sebring Convertible seats in mine.

Seats

Hi again -
Thanks for the prompt response jerrycad472.
Your input will be very helpful to me. Haven't seen Sebring seats before but I'll add them to my search list. Did they require major mods? Do you have pics?
I see you are from Detroit. I was born and raised on the west side . . Dearborn Hts area. Came to Texas about 30 years ago. My folks still live in Brighton and my brother has a restoration business in Howell - "Classic Metal". He does restorations, street rods, muscle cars and an occasional exotic.
I also see you have a 70 Camaro - they are to die for. Do you have pics? I used to have a black 71 and wish I had stored it somewhere until now. Oh well can't keep them all.
Thanks again for the help on the seat questions. I will look for the post about the S10 seat installation.

I live on Grosse Ile, not too far from Dearborn Heights.

The Sebring Seats seem like they are going to work well. I have only trial fit them so far. My car is a long way from being done. I had to cut the mounting feet off of the sebring tracks and make an adapter with heavy Angled steel to go between the Seat Tracks and the stock Monte Floor Mounts. My main reason for going with those seats was that I got a new set for free, plus they are nice leather. I was able to buy enough extra vinyl and leather to be able to recover the rear seat and door panels to match. I just need to find a shop to have the work done.

Below is a link to my pictures for the Monte, but there are a couple of shots of the Camaro on there as well.

thanks again for the message. I last lived in Taylor at Telegraph and Goddard Roads. Grosse Isle is nice. Used to cruise out there every now and then. Thanks for sharing your photos. I would "kill" for that Camaro -Caddy engine or not. Those era Camaros no longer exist in Texas. Sad. Your Monte looks like it's coming along too.
Thanks again for the seat info.

I put a set of 69' camaro buckets in my malibu. The stock manual bucket seat tracks worked with a simple bracket I made to extend them a little. The car was origionally a manual bench so I had to cut the floor brackets out of a bucket car and weld them in to suit the width of the camaro seats....the short back buckets look good in there.
