Gas gauge off? Or is this normal?

so since its so normal, what's the solution? I ran out of gas today and mine was in the same spot, past full. luckily it was just in my drivueway...

If you ran out of gas and yours said it was past full then you don't have the same issue. Your sender is likely bad.

Most likely have a bad sending unit. I had the same issue, replaced the send and it's all good. Check the ground wire of the sender also, should be back by the rear bumper, make sure it's tight and clean. I tested my sending unit with an ohm meter after I removed it. It was reading half full when it should have said empty.

After i did this, it was a lot more "responsive".
 
where is the sending unit? im assuming its in the tank.. and may i add that it worked just fine before i swapped gauges and dashes, this gas gauge HAS given me trouble before.... think its the gauge itself?
