Gas Guage

My gas guage on my 81 Malibu has recently started to bounce opposed to just show the fuel level. Does any one know what might cause this?

Before it used to just sit in a steady spot unless the fuel sloshed around in the tank when I turned or something now it is just constantly bouncing like if it is not getting a good reading. I have checked the plug behind the rear bumper and it has a solid connection from what I can tell.

Any help or past experience is appreciated!

mine does that not that bad though.

check the ground and make sure its good, then if that doesnt help check the printed circuit to see if any of the tabs are loose or folded, then youll have to check the sending unit if thats bad. and if all thats bad then its time for a new one. i one forsale.
