Gas Powered Blower Ban

oops 2

Anybody who truly wants to ban the 2 strokes, and is a member here with a G body, one could say this is pretty hypocritical. Our old cars are not the most ecofriendly in the universe, and how can we pick and chose what stays and what goes, what's banned and what's permitted, and anyone wanting to call these shots, passing these laws, should be living off solar power and driving electric cars, because if not, your voice has become irrelevant to the masses, trying to execute more laws and provisions all the while living with a huge carbon footprint yourself.

I remember as a kid riding in my parents car while going up a long grade on a thruway and passing tractor trailers going 35/45 MPH in the slow lane pouring out black sooty diesel smoke. I'm actually glad those days are over, the technologies intergraded into the emission control systems using computer and other emissions technologies of today, not only provide maximum power with less fuel consumption but emit half the emission too. So I'm truly into using technology to get to point B, instead of just banning things, the easy way out.
I only want to ban 2 strokes because they have ran so shitty in the past. Exhibit B is boats. My BIL especially after owning his mechanic shop by Oak Lake, made the comment, is there such a thing as a good running boat? Guess what most of the old boats he fixed were? 2 stroke! I could care less of their pollution levels, their shitty running tendencies is why they should be executed.

I love my 2 stroke snowmobile.

I hear you there, they can be fussy for sure. I collect older enduro bikes, dirt bikes, and mopeds ect, all 2 stroke. I really have no issues with them, they are defiantly not made to putt around, they like to be run full throttle, with a good NGK plug and NON ethanol fuel, with the CORRECT amount of oil in the gas if its not oil injected. Actually i like the smell of a 2 stroke.....maybe that's what's wrong with me, all that 2 stroke sniffing over the years 🤣

Good point, but I also don't want an EFI catted weed whacker and the price tag that'd go with it. All this innovation hasn't come without a price tag.

All of my 2 stroke stuff runs like a top, including my boat. Boat sat for 2 years until last summer. Took a little work at the ramp but she fired right up and ran flawless. Owning a classic car and talking about banning any type of engine is insane.

No throttle needed on a 2 stroke, only an on/off switch.

Still a bunch, especially multiple carb boats etc running shitty or blowing up from over revving or from lean mixes. More bikes and sleds on the blowing up. The head gasket slowly going was the final straw on our Mercury 50 hp 2 stroke. Before that, backfiring, catching fire and our boat was one of the better running ones! Our 25 hp EFI 4 stroke matches the old 50 hp in the lighter boat, runs great. If 2 strokes disappear, I won't cry, not a fan of them. I am planning dual cats and sequential multi port EFI for 70 Cutlass long term. They are coming for our old cars, no doubt. If I can throw every 2 stroke at them to slow down the Hippies, so be it😉. I realize you guys love them, I feel the exact opposite way, almost no good experiences with them.

There’s no way a 25 hp 4 stroke is matching the power of a 2 stroke 50hp, unless the 50 was down a cylinder. A carbed 2 stroke is naturally lighter and has more low end torque.
My friend has twin etecs on his boat and he has well over 1000 trouble free hours on them, and was going to step up to the new ones until they stopped making them.
I will never advocate for banning any type of internal combustion engine. Let the market decide.
