Hi I have a 88 monte carlo rear looking to replace the gears and bearings in it. I went to summit for a install kit an have found 2 kits not sure which is the right for me. i dont know alot about rears an this is confusing me. they both say 27 spline pinion count i dont know the count but doesnt that depend on the gear set i get? And they both say 28 spline axle count im guesing mine is 26 count does that matter? i didnt think that mattered for the bearings. I could be looking at the wrong stuff completely i dont know. Can anybody point me in the right direction?

The axle spline should be 26, the pinion spline mates to your driveshaft. That spline count may vary if it was modified. You may need to pull the drive shaft off and count the spline to be certain.
Is it an ss rear or ss car?
Posi or open diff?

Yes, the yoke mates to your driveshaft. Count them if your not finding the correct data on them. Or you will need a new yoke to correspond with your new pinion spline count.
