Pulled diff cover plate off because I have to change yoke seal it’s leaking, and the part shop said they need to know what the ratio is, I see with paint marker someone put 82 on the big gear and the small one in the back you can see in the second photo says 1x18, could someone help?

Sorry 2.73:1 gear
I did more research, so the code on my diff says that it should have 41 ring gears and 15 pinion, I counted 41 like so but my pinion was actually 18, so it ends up being 2.28, which in reality isn’t the greatest for what I built for a motor, being a 350sbc with a 650 eldebrock, a xe262h comp cam and having longtubes, but I’m only running 1800 stall on my th350 so this isn’t really any performance, I just want a ride that has some good street use

many of the gbodies came with low ratios. you'll need at least a 3.23:1 to get decent performance. these were 7.5" rears, but you can also use gears from 7.625" which were primarily in the S10 and the Camaro. that will allow you to get a higher ratio than 3.23

you need a posi with some better gears stay away from a gov lock unit they nicknamed them gov bombs .it depends on your trans is it overdrive or not and if you want to cruise down the highway without turning a lot of rpms you got some reading to do

The OP says he has a TH350 transmission which limits his gearing choices. With a non OD transmission you don't want a gear ratio lower than 3.42. With an OD trans you can go futher like 3.73.
