Drivin uare correct the cable on a 350 turbo is just a passing gear cable not a throttle valve cable. If the transmission is slipping that bad the clutches are burnt up so check yer fluid to c if its black and smells burnt. If all is well there Start off in first gear and shift to second mannually and then third to make sure u are gettin all three gears. I would agree with drivin and say yer not gettin third. Probally a linkage prob, rod might of bent or pulled thru the adjustment when u changed the mill.

I stand corrected. That gets me back to thinking the Governor is sticking. I had it happen on a road trip, just couldn't get into high gear. The transmission guy said clutch facing material had flaked off and jammed the Governor so it couldn't actuate high gear.

There seems to be more to your story. Engine swap and fire? What's the history? Did this start immediately after other work was done or just happen out of the blue?

The v8 makes more power than the v6. Its the transmission slipping. The transmission could have been getting worse but when you drop more torque behind it it will show. The bands are probablly to far gone. Only thing to do is put a b&m shift kit in. You can get them for 40.00 at your parts store. This will help it from slipping by increasing the pressure for shifting so you get a nice quick firm shift. Otherwise you need to replace the transmission and the converter to. The other converter will have shavings in it to.

When pulling away from a stop does the vechicle feel slugish? If so the stator one way clutch is freewheeling, preventing the fluid flow from the turbine to the impeller from hitting it in the right direction for torque multiplycation.

No It Throws You Back In Your Seat Or Just Gos Like Any Normal Car

Do you have a clutch-type fan? Is it possible that the fan is locking up and just making it sound like it's revving?

Have you verified the high RPM with a tach or are you just going by the sound?
