General muffler question.

I'm looking for some help here. I have a friend with an older Dodge with a 440 engine. The car has dual exhaust with 2.5" pipes and full tailpipes, and its very loud with a lot of droning. He's looking for a way to quiet the car down. Does anyone here know of a really quiet performance muffler? Also, would an H or X pipe help with the droning condition? Thanks in advance.

X pipe give the exhaust a higher tone, the H pipe gives it a lower tone. I don't know what he has in there now but what about the Flowmaster 50 series.

cats or a resonator will help as well. The old 78 powerwagon has headers into cherry bombs and turndowns. That thing is wayyy too loud for me

The Dynomax Ultraflow is a pretty mellow muffler with good flow. A super turbo is pretty mellow too.

I actually just went from true duals to adding an H pipe this week. An H-pipe definitely gives a deeper sound.

X2 on the Dynomax Super Turbo mufflers. The Summit Turbo mufflers are also very mellow.
