thanks. I had to leave right when i joined and posted. I did a search and came up empty. I understand that the decal was placed in the glovebox sometime in 85. I would be curious to know where it's located on the earlier models. would it be a metal trim tag? I have had many older Elky's and that's where to look. I will see this car on Sunday and would like to know what I'm looking at. it's an 85 Black Choo choo, but I am not certain it's a reall SS since it has a column shifter and split bench Maroon interior. sweet looking car and I dont wanna pay TOO much for it. so, I would appreciate any help. thanx.

There was no Cowl Tag, etc in these years. You need to look for a build sheet, and they are hard to find. If not above the glove box ( have to drop the box), then they "might" be above the gas tank! The ChooChoo conversion was an option, so it would not be on the original build sheet anyway. Better to look for Choo Choo stuff, like the tag in the driver's door. If no Choo Choo label in the door ( with serial number), then not likely a stock ChooChoo. ChooCHoo also had "designer" labels in the outside door handles, an emblem on the passenger side dash. It might have had a small bolt on hood scoop ( it was an option). Side exhaust pipes were also an option, but more rare. Also look at the nose itself. The original was made of a flexible plastic, while the reproductions are made of Fiberglass- much more rigid.
