I have a vibration in my vehicle that I assumed was caused by the pinion bearings which had seen better days. I replace the rear end with another housing with a 342 posi, new bearings and seals and set up by a pro. The vibration was still present with the new set up so I switched out the drive shaft which didn't help. We raised the back end of the car up and jacked up the rear end to about the it's ride hight. Putting the car in 2nd and bringing it up to the speed of where the vibrations begin (about 85 clicks) there are no appreciable vibrations but putting the car in 3rd at that speed the vibrations kick in. There is no change to the vibrations in 4th or with the converter locked up. I'm running a 200 R4. When cruising around 100 clicks on the highway I can drop the transmission into N but the vibrations don't subside. I replaced the transmission mount last year trying to get rid of the vibration. The vibrations are more severe with the new diff gears since with my original gears of 241 I could keep the rpms under 2000 on the highway. If I did bring up the rpm the vibrations did kick in but like i said I thought it was the pinion bearings. I have gone thu a couple of sets of tires and rims so the vibration isn't due to either of those. I have another transmission and torque converter to drop in and I'll be changing my flex plate but I'm hoping someone would have an idea where this vibration is coming from.
