I have the one with the steel end and had to pry it open a bit and filed down where the bolt goes through a bit and it fits perfectly..As for the shaft not collapsing try soaking it WD40 or PB blaster and hitting it with a rubber mallet to loosen it up.

84GP455 said:Yup,,,I bought one yesterday at the bone yard for $15 I read that it has to be the steel one not aluminum from a 93-98 Jeep Cherokee and also it should have NACAM stamped on it. I have to clean it up and paint it yet but i will let you know if it fits!
