You can use up to a 3,000 stall lock up converter more with a lot more money which helps to take advantage of more cam and the lock up helps a lot with Keeping street-ability. It drives like a normal converter until you smack the throttle hard only with better mileage and less heat in your transmission and cooling system. In many some cases with a good top end charge you can even pick up a tenth & or 1 mph by manually locking it up in third.

"A lot of compromises in building a car." I always say its harder to build an 11 second street car than a 10 second drag car.

This is ABSOLUTELY right - I could probably be in the high 10s - with something gutted out, with an engine revving to 7,000 RPM, a locker, etc that was miserable to drive on the street.

Very nicely done - aside from the hood, it's hard to tell it's a Ltd - did you paint it yourself or did you have it painted? Did you go with the fiberglass front & rear bumper or did you shave & paint the bumpers? Just curious - the car is awesome, very clean...makes me wish mine was done...

(On a side note, I got those corners you sent to me - thanks, sorry I didn't get back to you, I haven't had a whole lot time to get on here lately. Nice doing business with you 🙂 )

Glad you got 'em and it worked out.

Painted the car in my garage - $50 paint job. Local body shop wanted 4 grand, with no bodywork.

Fiberglass front bumper, I painted the chrome/stock bumper on the back.

What did you do roll in a gallon of Black Rustoleum?!?! a lot of people have had great results with going that route

***UPDATE***

It has been a year and a half since I finished the car. All is well. I have run the quarter mile in it a few dozen times. I'm happy with the choices I've made with this car. I have had two projects since this one was finished - I am currently working on a 94 Camaro.

Glad to see you're still around! How's that 7.5" rear holding up?

Ha! funny you asked about the 7.5

I've got a Strange Engineering catalog right here I'm looking through, it says here that I can get a Dana 60 completely assembled for $1995

There has been some talk about transmissions and rear ends and I wanted to clarify a couple things:

I drag race and my personal best is an 11.99 @ 112 race weight is 3450 or so

I have burned up two or three junkyard 4L60s and I had to return my new "race prepped" 4L60 three times under warranty (it is now sitting on my garage floor)
I currently run a new Summit Turbo 400

I have shredded one 26 spline 7.5 (with an Auburn and a girdle) and I am really trying to baby this latest one, saving my $$ for an aftermarket rear
