"60 hour paint correction"

I wish we could get 60 hours for painting a nearly new car!

I don’t think it was even painted, paint correction typically involves cleaning contaminants off the surface and polishing out scratches, water marks, etc. I’ve done a lot of correction and detailing through the years - I have no idea how to get 60 hours into a job... especially a vehicle with <100 miles.

I have a hard time believing 31 year old OEM lacquer would be sound enough to withstand much cleaning/buffing/polishing, even being stored inside. Could happen, I guess, but my previous employer's allegedly garage-kept 86 GN's paint looked like a flagstone walk way back in '99/2000

I guess the collectors/purists love "original", but it's a clearly inferior finish to what is available today.

It says it had a $64,500 buy it now price, went across the Mecum block at 90K no sale, less 10% commission that would be $81,000, I'm no math whiz but this leaves me confused as f%$k.......

You know it. Oh, that GM paint quality back then.....eewwwww. The clearcoat crap was so bad early on that the clear came off in strips and even sheets. At least the lacquer paints that sucked could somewhat be brought back easier. But only once. That stuff was so thin it barely covered the primer.

Maybe the 60 hours of correction was a complete sand down and respray included. 🙂 That's what most of them needed.

I'd drive the crap out of that thing. Of course, in the garage I have a 2013 Camaro ZL1 convertible that has only 3,000 miles on it. And I bought it new. And my 85 442 I bought new has 60K and my 87 442 has 23 or 24K miles on it and had 22K on it when I bought it in 2007. So I'm not someone who can really back that up. I'd probably store it some more. 🙂
