Does anyone know where you can purchase brand new head light bezels for 79 malibu everywhere I've looked they only have a whole grill kit for 81 and up I have mine but rather purchase a new front grill kit.

Most places that I've seen that sell bezels only seem to have right sides, no lefts. Why that is...I have no idea.

I also tried doing a search, and they show it unavailable. I guess it's Ebay or someone with good used parts.

Stuck in the exact same position as you. Tried VERY hard to source new bezels and couldn't find a left hand one for all the tea in China.

I am halfway down the path of refinishing mine (see my build thread for more info) and have elected to use a system called "Cosmichrome" which is basically very similar to the process the factory used for chroming ABS plastic. Should have some more pictures to post soon of the step by step progress. Perhaps this might be a solution for you?

Matt,
I'm anxious to see how yours come out. Jeff told about meeting you and visiting the Cosmichrome people.

^^^^ saw your thread, great work. Cosmichrome looks great, but if you weren't going to invest in the system, what would you have done? Ponied up the $$ and find a chromed locally? I'm in same boat with my 78 Monte and the headlights, rear tail lights.... No one sells these, which is frustrating to say the least

Geo,

Just to be clear, I didn't have to invest in the system, (Thank the Lord, because its $$$$$) I found a guy here locally that does this and that is ALL he does. Lucky for me. Lets see how mine turn out. If they come out perfect and I have a feeling they will, I am sure Ray, the guy who is doing the work would be open to more business from the notorious G body Clan. Perhaps I can negotiate a discount for forum members. Also, if you are sending pieces up from the States to the great white north you are looking at a 25% discount due to exchange rate. Food for thought anyhow.

Hey Jack,

Was a pretty cool morning to spend with Jeff and Ray (The Cosmichrome guy). Definitely seems like this Cosmichrome stuff is the real deal and doesn't yellow or tarnish with age which is great. Was pretty awesome hanging out with Jeff, he is a real prince of a guy.

Should have some updates soon on the bezels as they have about a 2 week turn around time.

Geo,

Talked to Ray at Wicked Chrome and told him you were in the same boat as me. He is happy to help and definitely told me anyone here from the G body Forum he will take good care of. His contact info is: www.wickedchrome.ca Ray 1+(289)-600-1601.

Now keep in mind you definitely need to take some detailed pictures of the bezels and send them to him. He charges approximately $75+ per bezel to redo with his process. Any prep work needed he charged $50 per hour.

Mine did need some bead blasting to get some of the flaky chrome off the bezel, and this was after I stripped off ALL the black paint which took me quite some time.

Let me know how it works out for you. I will be posting pics of the progress on my build thread.
