My friend used it on his headers and its been about 10 years now and its now starting to show a couple of rust spots he is doing my headers now he is sand blasting them and then prep and paint.
I used VHT gloss yellow caliper paint on my block and heads when I built my 455 6 years ago. Motor is still yellow, but I touch up the heads as I change out the spark plugs at tune up time.
I have used that line of paint on cast manifolds too. Haven't used black but had good long-term results with "cast iron" color. This is on one of my cars after about a year of use. Turns more goldish with age. Not sure how it works on headers. Nothing in a can will compare to ceramic coating.
I agree with Driven. get the "cast iron" color. That's the color I'm using, it turns a pretty sweet gold color. It seems to be more robust than the black, plus if it flakes off a bit it doesn't looks so bad. +1 for cast iron color! 😀
