i have an aftermarket aluminum intake for a 4.1 with an egr setup but strill have to carb and am looking for the 4.1 carb (qjet) that will bolt up and keep everything running as far as everything hooking up the same and i was wondering if anybody had any feedback about this because i am seriously considering doing this over the summr because i need to take my intake manifold off to clear out my completely blocked egr port to stop my pinging so i figured this might be well worth doing while i have my engine apart. I've been looking hard for someone that has done the swap and i need to hear their opinions

I've been wanting to do this... where did you get the intake with an EGR? All the ones I've seen (and there weren't a lot) didn't have it.

well i got mine on ebay for 90 bucks but i know that on summitracing they sell them and it will show a pic of one without egr but in the description it mentions they are available both with and without egr

Wow, thanks a lot! The Edelbrock web site only mentions the non-EGR manifold which would mean that, as a California resident, I couldn't use it. I had been trying to find a stock one off a 4.1 but this is a lot better. I'll probably be doing this this summer, too. 😀

(of course, I need to get my car smog checked this month anyway and it'll be good until I leave the state so...)

so im guessing this is not very commonly done but i still need to find someone who has done it so i can get some insight on it

i found a junkyard that has a two 4.1 quadrajet that came off running cars and are indoors now and after i order mine i will give you a phone number of the junkyard if your interested

one is off a buick and another is off a GP both 82's i believe

ok so i got the numbers on 2 carbs

17082268

and

17082295

trying to figure out which one (maybe both) will work bolting up to my 3.8

well i order quadrajet 17082268 and it costed me 80 bucks, hopefully i get a winner and dont require a rebuild kit
