Hi there i am newer to this site and my question is would a 8.5 diff out of a 78 or 79 (i cant remember what year) Pontiac Parisienne would bolt directly in to my 81 lemans. i already have the diff in my garage. from backing plate to backing plate it measures about 55 1/2 - 55 3/4 i just did a quick measurement with the tape to get an idea. Can any one help me with this?

The short answer is that it is not a direct bolt in. The Parisienne was based on the B body. The rear is too wide and the control arms won't line up correctly. The stock G body rear is 52 1/8" wide. Are you in Canada? According to Wikipedia the Parisienne was not a US model until 1982.

Yes i knew it was wider, was just wondering if it would bolt right in. well thats not what i was hoping to hear. and yes it was a canadian car, im from Winnipeg , MB. Well thanks for the info. i guess ill be looking for a 12 bolt,
