My thing with imports is limited to a few models which do the job I want them to better than anything else. I am a car guy and do not really care where a car comes from as long as it does it's job. I expect my daily driver to be able to do 50k miles of city driving a year., for 300-500k miles on one engine. In the 12 years I have worked in the pizza delivery industry, I have never seen a domestic that can do that. The only cars that have the reputation of indestructability in that industry are older Civics, Sentras, and Nissan and Toyota trucks. They have to be the most basic models with manual windows, transmissions and 4 cylinder engines. In that industry, I have seen S10's and Rangers used, but the S10's are lucky to go 175k miles and the rangers will go maybe 220k. Cavaliers? Forget it. If they go 100k without a major failure it's amazing. I did see a Neon go 220k but it was totally shot when finished, and have seen Escorts that have been surprisingly good at taking abuse. I have seen a 95 Nissan truck with 320k, know of a 85 Nissan truck with 500k, have 266k on my Nissan, etc. Mine even went 200k miles on the factory clutch, 260k on the original starter, still has it's original brake hydraulics, rotors and drums, original engine with no oil use or leaks, etc. I am the original owner and started using it as a pizza delivery vehicle 1 day after it came off the dealer's lot. It also still manages to get 23mpg in the city doing deliveries, the same as it did when new. All of the original sensors, injectors, etc still work fine and with the exception of the O2 sensor ( did it a few months ago) are the ones that came with the truck new.

Anyhow, the whole Import/Domestic squabble is really pointless to me. People like what they like, and if they like making their car perform better I can get into whatever someone else's project it as long as they are not an *******.

im not talking down on them, i guess i just want to hear about g bodys on here....... but since you brought up blazers, my blazer has over 200,000 miles on the 4.3/700r4 and still runs perfect, it has a hypertec chip and flowmasters...... i pound on that thing everyday and my buddie who built it was even worse on it, the only thing i have replaced is the fuel pump because my buddie parked it for 3 years. my biggest issue is the 8/9" drop on a 4x4, lol, rough ride! so i am going to have to disagree on the blazer only getting 175k. not to mention a 4.3 is a walk in the park to rebuild.

The 4.3 is not the engine I was talking about, it's the 2.2 4 cyl Cavalier engine in the base truck. the 4.3 is the 3/4 350 and is not too bad except that S truck 4x4's are a notoriously hard platform to work on. That being said, Nissan Pathfinders are also a nightmare. I also have 2wd on mine instead of 4wd because the truck I own was bought for fuel economy and improved reliability through reduced complexity. Even the color of the truck was chosen because of longevity ( white with gray interior), and it is the base truck for a king cab in 1998, so it lacks a sunroof, PW,PL etc.

lol, i should be worried about fuel economy! i agree that those 4 bangers in the s series blow royal..... that is the smallest engine of 5 carsi own, i dont know the meaning of fuel economy any more. if i was worried allot about it i would have a car payment and that would cost more then a little extra gas. if you are driving a crap load i dont blame you.

Yeah, I can sometimes even get 24mpg city out of my little 4 cyl/5spd truck! The funny thing is, it's not that slow. I had some stupid kid in a 4x4 Chevy 1500 truck taunting me, poking fun of my small Japanese truck and yelling obscenities-all unprovoked. He burned out and such off the line, while my little Japanese 4 banger truck kicked his *ss. By the time I reached 45 and let off, I had him by 3 truck lengths....lol. He was trying to impress his girlfriend who was next to him and I really enjoyed making him look like an *ss. I also have a 1350lb payload capacity and 3500lbs of towing with my 4. It has 143hp/155 ft lbs of torque and is faster to 60 than a 2.8 S10 or a 3.0 V6 Ranger. It runs a 11.2 in the 1/8mile. Slow, but faster than an automatic Sentra I also ran down the track( 12.5 in the 1/8!). Sorry for going off topic, but I really love my little truck. Someone could offer me an even trade for a brand new Chevy Colorado and I'd turn it down.

i dont have a g body yet cant make my mind up on which one to buy but im looking.i daily drive my 68 mustang unless its snowing then i drive my 83 chevy 1ton.driving in the snow doesnt bother me its the others on the road that wreck when it rains let alone snows.or gets stuck and just leaves the car in the middle of the road.kentucky needs to give a iq test before the drivers licenses test.
