head unit and speakers?

ok im looking for a head unit for the cutlass, for under 160 dollars, wattage doesnt matter because i will be running a 500x4 kenwood amp to the door speakers, but i want the head unit to be able to plug an ipod into, run two amps(one for speakers one for subs), possibly xm radio and of course cd and radio.

Are kenwood speakers any good? Im buying that amp for 50 bucks, so i was thinking ill just stick with kenwood stuff. I guess ill need 2 4x10's, 2 6.5's (dont know where ill mount them... but...) and a set of tweeters.
any recomendations kenwood or not?

i found exactly what I was looking for on ebay for exactly the price i wanted, new. but thank you for the offer lol. Pioneer H/U are usually pretty good, Im running one in my 2000 malibu.

i found all the speakers i wanted im just not sure what I wanna do about subs, i kinda like em, but they can get annoying, yet they are cool to watch and shake the car... I was thinking a single 12" kenwood stainless steel sub and a mono kenwood 1000watt class d amplifier. what do yall think?

i have been runnin nuthin but kenwood for years. the stereo in my 85 salon was installed in 89, only upgrades since is the head unit...........everything else is 20 years old and still poundin hard

wow 20 years? i didnt realize they made systems that looked like that 20 years ago, i wouldnt know, im only 16 lol. i like your cutlass btw, very clean with that maroon color.

I would personally recommend Alpine or Eclipse. Speakers and decks they both make really good products. As far as 4x10's I would highly recommend replacing them with something round or a 6x9. I haven't heard many 4x10's that sound good. Kenwood is a good brand, I use to sell it a shop I worked at, but we also sold Alpine and they kinda spoke for themselves. Have you thought about kick panels or lower door panels made for speakers???

Right now i am running two kenwood 6x9's in my back window of my malibu and that's it and honestly over the sound of the exhaust I don't need anymore speakers ha kenwood is a great brand though, when i redue my truck system this summer it's getting two Kenwood Subs and all kenwood components most likely. They are a good speaker at a good price

price is a big factor to me right now. once I sell my atv ill have about a grand, and 650 will go to suspension and tires, and the other 350 will be for stereo or tint and striping.
