Just want to see if anyone has info on a factory replacement heater core for a 1979 caprice classic, I have tried several brands even the one from 1A and they do not have the smaller bottom run to fit the clip that holds it in the box? Is there a way to modify. if I take the clip off there is not anything technically holding it against the side of the box except the hoses.

please advise, thanks mike

Can you get yours repaired? The new heater cores didn't seem to fit my GP so I repaired the old one which are better build than than the new ones. That is a cool looking Impala. Do you have anymore pictures of it?

I didn't know they could be repaired. will look into that. yeah will get some other pics on here. thanks.

Nice Caprice, Mike.
That is one cool lookin' ride.
I always liked that particular (2dr) body style with the bubble rear window.

I think Steve's advice in regard to having your original heater core re-cored is a good suggestion.. especially if the new parts don't work the same.

Do you know where the core is leaking?. On mine the inlet tube had broken the soldering, it probably broke when I was replacing a hose. I cleaned up the area and resolderd it and still no problems with it. I did the outlet tube at that same time and added more solder. That is a really nice Impala. ... 🙂
