Just wanted to say hello from a new member
I recently discovered a 81 El Camino that I've decided to make my 'winter project' car
It originally came with a 229-6, factory floor mounted 3-speed, no clock or radio that spent the majority of its life in Jax, FL before I became its 4th owner
Let me start wth its good points first... 52K original miles, bone-stock and straight body with no rust except as noted belo., I received it with a recent 305-HO crate motor and it's previous owner really went thru the power-train with tons of new parts including a Edelbrock 4 barrel, headers, new dual exhaust and new tires... and I got it for $1,000
Now for 'little bit of work' it needs... interior from being sun-baked in FL for decades, warped hood, two doors with rusted out bottoms from the weather-stripping being gone for years, the 'ledge' around the rear window full of rust holes (which also 'toasted' the pan behind the passenger seat) and new paint because its gone too
Needless to say, I have my work cut-out for me
I'm looking forward to the expertise and advice of the members of this forum who've probably already have encountered and solved all the problems and projects I have ahead of me
I'll add a few pictures over the weekend
