I've installed battery switches in my cars that are only started up every few weeks. Open hood, flip switch, start car. No dead batteries or time spent waiting for the charger.

Summit has their own brand of reasonably priced battery switches.

Yeah, sounds like it could just be a lifter tick. My dad swears by Sea Foam (I got him started on it :lol🙂, my mom's '99 Suburban had the same tick, but it was driven regularly (found out after we went to take the intake off it was poor maintenance and lifters weren't getting a very good supply of oil). After running that for a couple months it runs much better/smoother now.

yes, if you cant find out what culprit is for the battery drain...the next best thing would a battery switch...any auto store should have em and they're easy to install. I had the same problem...i would park my cutty for the weekend and come monday morning my car wouldnt start because of the battery being drained...i took it to the shop and they couldnt figure out the problem..so i bought a battery switch...

Most Oldsmobile engines have an aluminum rocker arm fulcrum that pairs the rocker arms together. Quite often they are cracked and result in an upper engine noise. Easy to check with the valve covers off and a good light. There are steel replacements available if needed.

seafoam is a good product, so I'll agree on that one... the other I've used/had luck with is this:

about 500 miles before your next oil change, buy a quart of MARVEL MYSTERY OIL, and add 1/2 of it into the oil and drive it up to the oil change mileage (you can put the other half in the gas). change oil and filter, and substitute 1 qt of oil for LUCAS OIL STABILIZER.

worked wonders on a friends subaru gl years ago, and did a good job on the wife's old mustang. will be doing it on the truck soon.

and yes, coffee is part of my oil changing routine!

One thing that has been puzzling me about this thread is that you appear to have been using the possessive form of the word battery. Did you mean it in the plural, as in two batteries? If so, how many batteries do you have, and what electrical modifications have you made to both warrant a dual setup and to add the extra battery or batteries? The problem may exist in the wiring modifications. (Sorry, but I analyze everything. I tend to be a bit of a grammarian at heart!)

I know what you mean, I've just started to overlook them for the most part

If you do have a pair of batteries in parallel though they can drain each other if left connected.

no the old owner of the car only had one battery on the car and i havent done nothing to the car yet. but he did tell me that the car would drain the battary if i left it connected over night. yesterday i bought a new battery, but i always disconnected wen am done with the car since its not a daily driver.
