hey, everyone really need some insight on how far i should go with my 1982 cutlass supreme t-top 454 its a t-top car and everyone has there say im wondering if i hook up could i actually twist the car apart how can i make this car stay together or should i worry i have so much $ invested i really dont want to have to pull motor and transmission and have to shop for a car that can handle it any ideas or past experiences?

Well, you need to determine your REAL goal of the car. Is it

A Street / Strip combo where it's a street-pounder during the week and a strip car on Friday - Sunday
1/8 - 1/4 mile strip car
A street car that has a big-block

It's hard to tell because you didn't give any info other than it has T-Tops and a 454. More info like:
Specs - Engine, trans, rear-end
Tire plans, particularly the rear
Suspension set-up
Interior (full or gutted)

Details man, details

SORRY also i dynoed it at the flywheel at 515hp and 550 ft lbs torque with the valves floating thats why i changed the valvetrain after dyno and for a rear end its a 10 bolt 373.

From your build it are you more into for track time than street time correct? It depends on how well the car plants itself on launch - have you had the opportunity to run it down a track yet? You're best bet is to start contacting those who do race / have close builds to yours and pick their brain. Myself and others can "guess" what you need but in the end you're going to have to make the call.

Basically, look at the frame. You have the main front cross-member, the trans cross-member and the rear "bar". I call it a "bar" because that's all it really it, something to tie the rear rails together. Also the trans cross-member adds little ~ no strength. You have some loss of rigidity with the T-Tops so maybe in that area? I don't know if a cage is in order to add in some strength plus protection.

Again, talking to those who use the car the same as you will use yours is the best.

I think I'm probably gonna just use it as a street car maybe take it down the track a few times a year that's about it a few more mods I would like to do I think I should be ok with the t-tops unless I put a good tire on and hook up.

Personally i would look for a local frame shop. I know the one i have went to in years past did performance work to. They should be able to at least tell you what you may need to have done. Going to someone who does it day in and day out would be the guys i would want to talk to first before looking at swaping engine into a different car and loosing the t-tops.

It depends on how much fuel is in the tank and the gas mileage you get...
