Help! Q-Jet gas leak

I replaced the seal and needl/seat in the old carb, and I never took it apart at first. I just cleaned the outside up. I'll make sure to use a wrench on the pump side to from now on. The new pump leaks just like the other. I got some brass fittings with hose barbs and they leak on the pump and the carb. You must not be able to use brass with fuel? How tight do the fittings have to be? I tighten them up so they are real snug. Or do they need to be as tight as possible? I have never experienced a problem like this and its getting irritating when all the parts are new and still arent working.

They need be quite tight and started straight. I usually start them by hand, then tighten with a wrench till good and snug.

Thats what I have been doing. I had the fuel line off a few times and never had any leaks after hookin them back up til I tried to put the all steel line on. Now all three different lines leak, and even aftr I got another new pump and brand new fittings. Something isn't right. I'm probably gonna just order a new steel prebent line, and hope that one actually seals

I think I fixed the problem. I took the brass fittings back to the parts store and got my money back. Then I bought 3/8 brake line and bent it up. I had to fill the float bowl to get her started. Hope shes not out of gas! Obviously it wont leak if there's no gas in the lines! I ran her for a few minutes. No leaks at either end. I cant believe all 3 other lines I had wouldnt seal. 2 of them were just on engines. Oh well. Thanks to all who helped me.

WHEW! All that over a friggin' fuel line. I'm happy you stuck at it and didn't punk out and use a rubber line. Now you can sleep easy knowing the proper part won't piss gas all over a hot motor. 8)

Punk out? Not me I'm too stubborn! haha I want things done right!
