I mostly watch youtube and netflix on the "smart" TV, and the wife watches a lot of cooking stuff on the Roku. Years ago, we had cable when we lived in town, but I got dissatisfied with all the "junk" channels, and the basic premise of HBO/ Showtime showing the same stuff, when THEY wanted, for decades.
All that said, I was never their target audience anyway, because I really have no interest in the typical consumer's sports-dominated lifestyle. I prefer the content provided by real people over the big-name shows that are mostly pushing their sponsor's stuff. I did like watching Roadkill, because at first it was like a couple of buddies having a good time, but by the time TEN pulled it off Youtube, it had become the net version of a magazine...which I gave up almost 2 decades ago.
We're using a radio-based internet/wifi system from a small local provider. I reached out to our electric co-op about fiber, they responded that they have been conducting a study and will know by the end of the year whether it is going to be offered to customers. My feeling is it will, as many other co-ops have already done it since it provides a better system status for them, and also provides more working capital.
Country livin'....it ain't for everybody, but it is for this guy! I can live with the concessions that sometimes have to be made.
