i got the same ones in black for my elky. the reviews on them are iffy. they work good for maybe 6 months and then they start to crap out. some people got the same ones and have had no problems. id say if ya got an extra 20 bucks, go for it, but dont be suprised when crap out. if they do. i havent had a chance to use them yet because my engine isnt together yet and its too damn cold to work on the street here in chi-town burbs. i have em mounted but never turned em on ir fully hooked them up yet. and theres actuallt 2 bulbs in each light. the main light and a second lil light to give it some color. i was thinking if i could figure out a way to replace the lil light and put in a colored strobe for show.

Those lights aren't really HID's, they are just composite halogens as compared to the original sealed beams.
As for the lil 194 bulb it won't change the color of the light when the headlight is on, but they look pretty neat when you hook them to just the parking lights. I have them on mine, although I replaced the 194 bulb with a blue LED. And I have some actual blue headlights that I got from summit.

sweet idea with the led and the parking lights.

Now that I think about it, these are actually 7 years old, and I've not had any issues with em. I've not done anything with the extra bulb yet, but I was thinking of hooking them into the parking lights...

Correct. A true HID light requires a ballast as well as a xenon bulb, auto leveler's, and cost $1000+ to have them done right.

You can buy kits that just replace the bulbs with HID bulbs and balasts but I don't know that those are DOT legal. Technically with the HID systems, the housings are required to have the auto levelers so that the lights are blinding oncoming traffic.

However if you do want to do a HID conversion a bit cheaper there's this site that sells the bulbs and ballasts:

wow, a big difference, i've seen the kit for around $80-$90 on ebay, i assume the other two lights are regular stock?
