It mounts on the column with the ignition switch using the same mounting holes. Or just get a floor switch and mount it on the floor.

what do i need to mount it on the floor

in 79 wasn't it on the floor to begin with? Check for a hole on the floor sort of under the E Brake.
I know it the fulsize truck lineup 80-81 is on the floor
but on my 82 Caballero its on the Lefty righty switch with the wiper controls. Not an apples to apples comparison but its still GM I'm thinking they would've switched over to column switch at the roughly the same time

Mine is a '79 and it was on the column but I switched it to the floor.

i didnt see a hole by the e brake but imma look into having it on the column im too short to reach it on the floor....the way it is now its jus hanging and i gotta reach for it lol so i jus never use my brights
