Hmmh, Love my SSIIIs but . . .

Those gold rims are overpriced. It only takes a few weeks of driving around before the gold looks scuffed. They will look fantastic - for like a week. The black ones are awesome and take a long time to start 'getting old' like the ss3's did on you. Go for longevity. Don't replace rims that 'got old' with rims that are going to 'got old' in a year or two again lol. And consider running a 16'' and saving dozens on tires. The extra inch going 17 makes my cutty rub on turns. Not worth the extra inch. I have to buy spacers now and I only have 7.5 width not even full 8. The 8 is better on MC not Cutlass which I like 7.5 width + 1.25 billet spacer. I've had 79mc and Cutlass there is a slight difference between the stance trust this! You can't even use over 7.5 up front on cutlass without the spacing, you would mess up the camber and be 'scraping'. If you get 16x7.5 you won't even need spacers though. That is what I wish I would have done instead of going for the extra inch. 17x7.5 +1.25 spaced is going to look badass but as you said once you do it the 'factory sleeper' look is gone. The car looks way different w the wheels tucked closer to the fender lip and a fat lip rip. Two totally different looks so study both looks before you decide.

I take it you've owned a set of these Hurst wheels?

Hard to understand how the black ones look OK over time but the gold ones don't.

Also, with proper backspace [4.5"?] and only 1" lower suspension, I should have plenty of room for 17x8 and 245/50/17s. Are you lowered more than 1" or running wider than 245s??

Thanks for the input . . .

My apologies I thought you meant without B/S. My friend had the hurst wheels and they looked good for a while. The black ones look good longer b/c they dont stone chip and scuff as easily. I have 265 rubber not 245 so that is a difference too

And, my SSIIIs don't look bad at all. They all have a problem with the center not being concentric with the mounting holes so they won't spin balance worth a damn. I managed to find 2 new ones many years ago and they were the same way. One wheel we have to static balance only. Or find someone that still can spin balance tires "on the car". .

to have them balanced you'll need to find a shop that has this

Hey, know where I can buy one?

EDIT:

Never mind, found it. Only $400?

That is 1/2 a set of new wheels . . .

Sadly, that is what I need. You would think one tire shop in a tri-state area would have one, but nope.
