Advance parts just don't go on any vehicles of mine ever.... they are str8 garbage! The whole corporation is pure sh*t. I refuse to do business with them beyond buying a light bulb or emergency item being the only local place open till 10pm.

The GMB pump was the pump Milidon and Flowkooler pump with an added a plate to the impellar an charged $50 extra for. Now Flowkooler has a CNC closed impellar, so it is actually worth the extra money. Given this is a 307 and very easy to cool, any pump will work. Glad to see you keep it Olds powered considering you have the second most hated Olds V8 next to the 260, the swirl port 307.

I actually like the Swirl Port Olds 307 for what it is. To be fair it should be compared with other engines of the 80's. It actually does what it was designed for; good mileage & reliability. The roller cam setup actually aided in it's reliability if well maintained. Of course this is my opinion from my experiences. Also, as you know I'm more old school in thought as far as my old cars go and aside from bolt-on upgrades not really into totally re-engineering them.

I haven't had much experience with the swirl port 307, just a couple of drives. I know most people who complained about how gutless their 307 was, it was usually a swirl port 307. I have also found the 260 adequate, dual exhaust helps no doubt. It also would have helped if Olds would have added the FE3X treatment, 30hp would helped the dog reputation and improved the 442's performance over the non swirl port version.

That is kind of the problem with the protouring hotrod craze for old cars now. Instead of offering bolts ons, everybody is pushing these expensive big kits that are major re-engineering of old cars. Sadly the market is pushing everyone in this direction with the mass discontinuing of stock replacements parts and simple bolt on upgrades.

I know but it's kind of disappointing..
For me this car hobby is just that, a hobby that I work at part time. I don't really have the desire or time to re-engineer any of my old cars.

I love re-enginerding my old cars - hell I live for it.

Just wait until I swap in a hydrogen fuel cell!
