How do I make the column linkage less sloppy?

It's not the transmission to bracket linkage, it's specifically the one coming off the column linkage out of the firewall.
Where it connects up top it's loose as hell and I can wobble it to and fro. In drive it's about 1/2 inch from the manifold at most, and I can imagine when the thing is at 500rpm in gear it's banging against it. I don't know what other thing would be making a weird metallic ringing banging noise under there. My exhaust isn't hitting anything, and I can feel the vibrations through the floor by the kick panel.

Its supposed to have a Grommet: 10017662, a sleeve 10017661 and a washer 580379 held in place by retainer clip 12338114.

That should take all ths slop out.
all those seem to be discontinued.

Been missing for a while, didn't seem to effect the operation of the linkage until now.
When I disassemble things on the G-body, I always sort all of the small parts into labeled bins. This helps me from misplacing small parts such as these..

Phone was dead. Plus, it's kind of hard to get a video of something under the hood that only happens when the car is in gear when you're by yourself. And its the rod going from the column down the firewall to the bracket on in the trans tunnel.

just put the parking brake on and turn the key to the run position with the engine off, then you can put the transmission in gear to look at the rods

This is the noise:
The camera picks up other noises (they sound rod knocky, but its not. The car vibrates and shakes and makes all kinds of noise).

The noise I'm talking about is near the end of the video. its a "ting" sound. Like hitting a glass bottle with a metal spoon. I ziptied the linkage out of the way (in drive) and it still made the noise. I can feel it under the floor by the dead pedal. It's really perplexing. And sometimes it's quiet, other times it almost as loud as the car.

I have also peeked under the car with it in gear (parking brake on and wheels chocked) and the exhaust on that side is NOT touching anything. It's weird. It never made this noise before.
