i have to replace my kickdown cable for my 84MCSS its a th350c transmission i broke the plastic piece going into the transmission 😳 i am going to replace it tomorrow but i have no clue what im doing

Not hard at all bud. First you need to disconnect it from your throttle linkage and take it out of the bracket. Get under the car and pull the cable down under so it isn't hanging up on crap. Clean around the area real good where the kick down cable goes into the trans. You dont want a bunch of dirt or gunk falling in your transmission. Unbolt the cable from the transmission. When you pull it out it will be hooked to a small piece of metal with a hook on the end. Unhook the old cable from that metal rod. Hook the new cable to that metal rod and reinstall it. You should have a new o ring with the new cable. I also use a very small dab of RTV around the o ring just for sh*ts and giggles. Once you get it ran back up to your throttle bracket and connected to your linkage you will have to adjust it. There is kind of a half moon plastic piece that pulls out at the top of the cable. Pull it up and move the throttle linkage to full throttle then press the half moon piece in and let go of the throttle. Your adjusted for the most part. Some fine tuning may be required depending on when you want the car to kick down relative to your throttle position. The instructions with the cable should show the half moon piece. It's pretty simple. By the way if it was not working properly before your car may have down shifted early or late or even not at all. Also make sure your new cable is the same length as your old cable. Sometimes parts store guys give out the wrong stuff. Good luck.

I think you'll need to hold the rod with pin nose pliers or it'll fall back down..
