Remove a broken oil dipstick tube without taking off the oil pan?........ :blam:

First spray with PB blaster no mater what. Did it brake or rust off? Also is it flush with the block? If its not flush you can use small vise grips and wiggle it out. Take your time don't rush it and watch to make sure the whole tube is moving. If it's flush you may need to take the pan off.

it got bent when I pulled off the manifold and the gasket stuck to the manifold, so when I pushed it back into place, it just snapped off flush... so, I tried pulling it out with a coat hanger made into a "J" hook, which I just knew would work....and it didnt budge....lol. I also tried an easy out, but that just started chewing it up. Im so pissed that I didnt put a new one in when I had the motor out of the car. Thanks for the ideas....I guess the pan will just have to come down.... :puke:

you could take a punch and push one side of the tube inwards some and use a pair of needle nose to pull it out, just another suggestion before the pan drop....

I would pull the pan, because anything you do will put metal shavings in the motor. I've done it before too and seen others do it also, so don't feel bad. Also put the new dip stick tube in and take the stick out before putting the pan on. I didn't do that once had a problem and had to take my pan down again.

I would try using an easy out. Ive had those hollow pins in the back of a crank or the pin for a 1 piece rear main seal housing (same pin) been pushed in too far and I couldnt grab it with anything. I tapped an easy out in there and gave it a twist and it came right out...Its worth a shot and there won't be any metal in the pan. Good luck.

If you can't get it out I'd push it into the pan and use a long magnet to try to get it out by the filler plug. If that doesn't work I'd put a magnet on the pan near the drain, fill up the oil with cheap stuff and turn the engine over without firing it up to move the oil around and the broken piece should end up on the magnet and then maybe you can get it out.
