Looks like your car was originally a hard top car, the quarter windows are for a hard top and the rear window Chrome is still there but looks like its full of glue.
Usually people remove vinyl tops, looks like someone did a number to this one and caused allot of rot...

Yeah the bondo is really just temporary. I know 100% damn good and well that the rust will continue but I had to get the top off there. I do believe it was regal trim also. The roof only has to stay hole free till this winter, then come hell and/or high water it's gettin a T-Top roof. Which will be cut down into the quarters and replaced. I'm a newb when it comes to body work so it'll be done my a friend of mine whos a pro at metal work.

This car is nothing more than a total hack job. The wiring was a disaster, the heater box was removed and replaced with carboard (which during the winter allowed snow and water to pour into the interior) Interior pieces are 3 different colors. Hacked the original center console in order to remove it. Not to mention all the gaskets in the engine are shot (minus the ones I've already replaced) This cars got a long way to go....thank god it's a project lol

Cool, It's good to know that you have plans to do it right. Looking forward to seeing the pics of that whole project

Finally got around to finishing the other half of the top. Also picked up a set of near perfect all clear backup lights from the JY. Mine were all cracked and just plain crap. Hate the reflector. Looks a million times better now I think. Wish I had t-top roof though.... 🙁

T-tops are definitely a love/hate thing... I wanted a t-top car really bad, so I bought my 442. Loved them at first, but now part of me wishes I would have stuck with a hard top car. Even with all new seals I still get leaks, and the rattles associated with them are starting to bug me more and more. But oh well can't win em all, right?

I have a car with t-tops that originally leaked, rattled, squeaked, and you could feel the body of the car flex when going over railroad tracks. I have redone the t-tops to the point that they are perfect. They do not leak, they do not make any noise, and the car feels totally solid. No flex at all. Yet I still say that I will never buy another car with t-tops. Solid roof FTW!!!

lol Seems like those that don't have them want and the ones with them don't care for them! My dream car has always been a t-top gbody (sad huh? lol) So by god this car will have them. Squeaks and rattles are perfectly ok with me....leaking will cause issues though. But I'll figure a way to fix that too.

IMO,T-top cars always look awesome...but there is definately a price to be paid for it. The body flex and leaks are a pain for sure. My moon roof leaks on really wet days but its there so I have to deal with it. But, if I had ordered the car myself, it would have been a hard top without the half vinyl roof....

Different tastes for different strokes I guess....I'm looking to do t-tops AND a vinyl roof. lol I'm gonna make sure to keep body flex at a minimum. Seems like that's a common problem for these cars. I hear more about it with the gbodys than I do with my unibody stang.

Well, any car that you cut the roof up will flex unless its well reinforced. My old fox body mustang t-top woud flex so bad pulling in an out of my driveway that the roof panels would pop out of the seals....lol
