so i found a 8.5 on cl 2 days ago and yesterday my buddy picked up his ss from a shop and didnt even make it home and broke the rearend . i told him about the 8.5 and we went and picked up . he going to have it sand blasted and painted before we put it in . i know he wants it in as fast as possiable . now i have been told this is a direct bolt in the only thing different is the drive shaft length . the shaft has already been shortened once for a 700r4 is that a problem .

I thought you have to cut 1" off the stock length drive shaft, if it came with a 7.5" rear. If it was already shortened for a 700r4 I have no idea. Maybe someone else will know.

after i got my trans installed, the driveshaft had to be shortened about 3 inches
