No luck here yet! The ones from Ron's that old80cs found are the closest I've seen, but I have the wide chrome trim and don't think they'd work without some modification to remove the small chrome strip. The ones xylorex found from Steele look like they may be the way to go. I may order those and see what I can do with them. I'll keep you all posted and thanks for looking out for possible solutions guys, it's appreciated here.
I just ordered samples of Steel Rubber 70-3807-61 and 70-3804-61. I will keep all posted. I agree that the small chrome ones from Repops will be extremely difficult to make work.

I received the samples the other day. They are similar to originals but not exact. It appears that either may work. I will not know until I disassemble my vehicle to be sure. The originals should have an outward bend at the top that would overlap the Qtr panel and butt up against the Qtr "wide/special" moulding, wear as the reproductions do not. The other tricky part will be to bend the mouldings to fit the contour of the window. I have attached a picture of the samples and a rough sketch (not to scale) of what the original should look like. To be continued....

I found a very.good used set of the rubber seals. They are "dry" in the usual areas. Does anyone have a method of restoring "moisture" in them? I heard mayonnaise wrapped in saran wrap for a few months will do it. Thoughts?

Moist and stinky.
Someone also said silicone spray or isopropyl alcohol and wintergreen oil 3:1 ratio and soak for a couple weeks..... May try the wintergreen. For the life of me, I can't think of why repops would make it for the W/O wide molding and not W/ wide molding. The majority of the cars seem to have the wide molding.

I am not giving up on the alternative options for finding a replacement part that will work but want to let you all know there are still some good OE moldings out there. See the attached pics of the ones I found. Light cleaning and a swipe of silicone brought them back to life. I did have to buy the complete quarter glass assemblies with trim and hardware in order to get them. Hope you all can find the same until alternatives are found. Thanks for all the input and advise. I will refer to this tutorial when I replace these on my car. Thanks again.

You’re very welcome. Glad to hear you found some good originals to work with, that’s what I was fortunate enough to have done as well. Hopefully the aftermarket will step up and start reproducing these soon.

Chemically the softener needed is; xylene, ethylbenzene mixture plus napthalene or close cousin toluene. Napthalene is main ingredient in moth balls, or moth ball flakes, getting in liquid form is prohibitively expensive.

Open market is Rubber Renue,

I haven't used personally, I always just used mineral oil sometimes mixed with a little SAE 30W, or 30W alone or thin cutting oil like 3 in 1. All with mixed results. Once the aromatic oils off-gas out of the rubber, its very difficult to reconstitute.

Hope that helps and not a goose chase.

Hey everyone,

I found l, believe it or not, a NOS pair of the quarter moldings with wide chrome. They are to arrive tomorrow. I will be selling the used ones I have if anyone is interested. They will include the rubber and wide chrome. I'll give anyone first dibs on this thread before list them. Let me know I can get some more pics fully assembled. Thanks
