how to remove gbody bench seat headrest

ok so im trying to remove my headrests in tha malibu to re wrap them but i cant get them off they have two screws on the base and i removed them but that only frees the plastic base but thats all so i tried a slim jim sliding down in the opening with the headrest and pulling straight up but nuthing any thoughts

Try something a little wider that the slim jim. I had a skinny piece of metal and that didn't work. Switched to something wider and it worked.

when i had them recovered in my cutlass, the guy at the trim shop used a hacksaw blade with tape wrapped around one end (to use as a handle), slid it in there and popped them right out.

Hack saw blade is exactly what I used to remove mine.

So what side did you guys insert the blade,front,towards dash or rear toward rear seat? I dont know how long the removal of the headrest has been on my "learn how" agenda :!: please elaborate.
